Glasgiven Contracts Ltd has achieved and operates to ISO 14001:2004 Accreditation Standards. All waste generated by Glasgiven Contracts is subject to the ‘Duty of Care’ Regulations. The required ‘Waste Transfer Notes’ for all controlled wastes must be obtained by the Site Foreman. These must be retained for a minimum period of 2 years.

All waste material and rubbish on site will be segregated into individual skips. There will be one for timber, general waste, metal and plastic. All operatives working on the site will be made aware of the procedures during site induction by the Site Manager.

When the waste skips are full the Site Manager will telephone the nominated skip hire contractor for the site and they will, in turn, arrange a collection time for the relevant skips and dispose of them, while at the same time replacing them with empty skips.

On arrival the driver will hand over a waste consignment note to the Site Manager and obtain his signature. Environmental Catalogue Numbers are displayed on all consignment notes which are then send to Head office.

  •  All waste material on sites will be stored in the skips provided.
  •  If separate skips are available these will be clearly marked.
  •  Skip areas will be kept tidy and free from litter.
  •  All waste in the skips must be non-hazardous and non-liquid.
  •  All liquid waste must be stored in the specially allocated containers on site.

Timber will be taken by the skip hire contractor for recycling; metal is also sold on to be recycled, as is plastic. General waste collected from site by the skip contractor and is segregated by them and taken to an approved waste control centre.

Skip contractors will have correct and up to date licences. The skip contractor must dispose of waste according to legislation at appropriately licensed landfill sites.
