It is the Policy of Glasgiven Contacts Ltd that all of our workplaces are smoke-free and all employees have the right to work in a smoke free environment.
This Policy has been written with the employees’ best interests in mind. The right of people to breathe clean air prevails over the right of the smokers to smoke.
Smoking is prohibited in any part of the premises or grounds, including offices, toilets, company vehicles, any building under construction, in confined spaces, store areas, canteens and site office, except at designated areas located at the car park.
This Policy is intended to benefit all employees and visitors: All employees are responsible for its continued implementation. Overall responsibility for ensuring the Policy is implemented, monitored and reviewed rests with the Health & Safety Manager.
Information on the Policy will be
- Circulated to all staff/ employees
- Circulated to all sub-contractors
- Provided to all new employees
- Included in the Health & Safety Policy
Signs will be put up where necessary to inform visitors. There will be no ashtrays or cigarette litter inside any building under construction, in confined spaces, store areas, canteens and site office.
In the unlikely event of a member of staff / employee not respecting the Policy, their Site Manager will attempt to resolve the situation informally in the first instance. Ultimately, repeated breaches of Policy will result in disciplinary procedures.
A formal review of the Policy will take place after one year.
